The Jordan Restaurant Association (JRA) is proud to announce that Saint George Restaurant – Fuheis has been awarded the international Green Key certification. This achievement marks it as the first five-star classified tourism restaurant in the Greater Amman area and surrounding governorates to receive this global accreditation, signaling a significant milestone in the sector’s commitment to tourism sustainability.
This recognition comes as a result of JRA’s strategic efforts to support tourism restaurants in adopting sustainable practices. These efforts are facilitated through coordination with specialized entities and are aligned with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between JRA and the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS), which aims to promote responsible environmental practices within the tourism and hospitality industry.
Mrs. Eliana Janini, General Manager of JRA, expressed her deep appreciation for the dedication shown by the management of Saint George Restaurant – Fuheis. She noted that the restaurant has integrated sustainability standards into its core operations since its inception, making it a role model for the entire tourism restaurant sector in Jordan.
On his part, Mr. Mohammad Al-Dada, General Manager of Saint George Restaurant – Fuheis, stated: "Earning the Green Key certification reflects our unwavering commitment to providing a premium hospitality experience rooted in environmental respect. We highly value the support of the Jordan Tourism Restaurants Association and its role in fostering partnerships that elevate quality and responsibility across our industry."
Mrs. Janini further explained that this achievement reflects a growing awareness among tourism restaurants regarding the importance of embedding sustainability into their operational models. She emphasized that such certifications enhance the sector's global competitiveness and elevate the quality of Jordan's tourism offerings. Looking ahead, JRA expressed its aspiration to see a substantial increase in the number of Green Key-certified restaurants by 2026, as sustainability continues to transform from a voluntary choice into a fundamental global requirement in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
