JRA and Jordan Food & Drug Administration Join Forces to Elevate Food Safety Standards Across Tourism Restaurants

The Jordan Restaurant Association (JRA), in cooperation with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), successfully hosted a free specialized training workshop titled: "Food Health and Safety." This initiative is part of joint efforts to enhance the competency of workers, specifically chefs and food supervisors, within the Jordanian tourism restaurant sector and ensure their adherence to the highest unified food safety standards.

The workshop was held on Monday, November 17, 2025, and saw distinguished attendance from representatives of tourism restaurants across various governorates of the Kingdom, reflecting the sector's commitment to implementing professional best practices.

The session was inaugurated by Eng. Mohammad Al-Manha, Consultant and Technical Director of the JTRA, who underscored the paramount importance of the partnership with the JFDA. Al-Manha noted that this collaboration aims to unify and enforce food safety standards nationwide, ensuring the quality of service provided to both tourists and citizens.

The workshop covered a range of essential topics pertinent to the core operations of food establishments, presented by specialized experts from the JFDA.

  • Eng. Bassam Sabra, Director of the Tourism Establishments Unit at the JFDA, delivered a lecture on the concept of "Food Health and Safety" and its practical applications.
  • Dr. Moath Mansour, Head of the Technical Follow-up Department at the JFDA, lectured on the concept and applications of general safety.
  • Dr. Ayoub Al-Hathnawi, Director of the Madaba Branch at the JFDA, focused on detailed aspects of "Food Display, Storage, Pest Control, and General Hygiene."

The session featured significant interaction, including an open Q&A and discussion panel, where attendees posed inquiries and shared expertise, underscoring the high awareness and commitment of tourism restaurant staff to applying optimal food safety standards.

Organizers affirmed that this gathering represents a cornerstone in a joint action plan to ensure the sustained elevation of sector efficiency and the continuity of such workshops. They stressed the commitment of tourism restaurants to all unified food safety standards throughout the Kingdom, thereby enhancing Jordan's reputation as a tourist destination that prioritizes the health and safety of its visitors.
